LASA National Congress 2016 – Retirement Living – Butterfly or Moth?
Retirement living in Australia is big business – the standard demographic projections fill investors with excitement that it could double in coming decades.
But what does the future client think of retirement living? How do we entice Australia’s most influential cohort into seniors’ accommodation when they don’t accept that they are old?
We believe that traditional marketing pull factors will be largely redundant on Baby Boomers and Pre-Boomers. The future lies in a delicate balance between facilitating denial and addressing the push factors – particularly health, convenience and affordability.
This will create exciting opportunities for innovative aged care providers and village operators to capitalise on an industry that is becoming more complicated (and interesting) than we might have expected.
